The common name for Agaricus is simply ‘Mushroom’. The same genus as our familiar supermarket mushrooms. Medium to large species where many will stain yellowish, pinkish or red. When young, the gills are pink or white and most mature to a much deeper brown. The spore prints range from dark brown to blackish-purple. Most are edible except those that bruise bright yellow, such as the Yellow Stainer – Agaricus xanthodermus.
